The Landing Strip Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What type of Spray Tan do you use?

A. We use a 100% New Zealand made product called Spraytanz and it is 100% Eco Cert Organic.

Q. Do you have a spray booth or person applying the tan?

A. A staff member will manually spray you.

Q. What shades of tan do you have?

A. We have 3 shades to choose from and we will advise when you come in depending on your skin type.

Q. What do I need to do before my Spray Tan?

A. Shower & exfoliate the day of your tan. If you wax make sure you do this 24 hours before your Spray Tan. If you shave make sure you shave prior to the tan. Don't apply any moisturiser, deodorant, make up or perfume. Wear loose dark clothes and opened toed shoes.

Q. Do you use hot wax for Brazilians?

A. Yes.

Q. Do you double dip?

A. Absolutely NO DOUBLE DIPPING for all waxing. Hygiene plays a very important part in our business. Rooms are refreshed after each and every client and we also use hygiene bed covers, which are disposed of after every client.

Q. How long does my hair need to be before I can get waxed?

A. Generally, we need your hair to be at least 1/2 of an inch to successfully wax. If you have been shaving & would like to wax we recommend you wait at least 2 weeks.

Q. If I wax, will the hair grow back?

A. Yes, waxing only eliminates the hair temporarily, however, over time you will notice that the hair that does return is thinner and finer.

Q. Can I have hot wax for my legs/back/full body waxing?

Absolutely yes, but the price will differ from the normal strip wax. You can either call or email us and our friendly ground staff will provide you with further information.

Q. How long will my wax last?

A. In most cases it will last between 4 - 6 weeks.

Q. Is it safe to get a Brazilian wax during pregnancy?

A. Barring any sensitive skin issues you might have, it's generally considered safe for pregnant women to get waxed during pregnancy. If you find your skin is more sensitive these days, try using a soothing lotion of Tea Tree before and after waxing sessions to reduce any additional redness or swelling.

Q. Is there anything I should avoid or know before I wax?

A. Please do not tan either in the sun or in a tanning booth 24 hours prior to waxing. Accutane, alpha-hydroxy acids, Retin-A, glycolic acids, hydroquinone, topical cortisone, and some antidepressants can aggravate waxing. Also it is not recommended that you wax after receiving micro or manual dermabrasion, laser resurfacing, a peel, or surgical removal of any growth in the area to be waxed.

Q. Is there anything I should do or avoid after I wax?

A. Yes. Please do not engage in a workout immediately following waxing as perspiration can cause rashes, irritation, redness and breakouts. Avoid exposure to the sun and tanning booths for 24 hours following a wax. Do not take a hot shower or use a spa for at least six hours following waxing.

Q. Every time I wax it seems like I get really bad in-grown hairs. Is there anything that I can do about this?

A. We recommend that three days after you receive your waxing you exfoliate the area with a body brush on daily basis. This helps to remove dry skin that can block pores and lead to in-grown hairs. Do apply PFB Vanish once a day (starting two days after the treatment) for 2 weeks to prevent and treat ingrown hairs. Try using Tea Tree Skin Wash once a day till the next treatment. Do exfoliate skin with Mancine Body Scrub every 4-7 days, starting 3 days after treatment to deal with ingrown hair.

Q. Is waxing painful?

A. We’re not going to tell you that it’s the most pleasant service we offer, but it usually isn’t as bad as it sounds. We have found that two things determine a less painful experience from a more painful one; product and proper technique. First, for small and sensitive areas we use a hot wax (Adam & Eve 'Lust') that attaches to the hair and not the skin. For larger areas such as legs and backs, we use a strip wax, but again, a wax that is formulated to be less “sticky” to the skin. Secondly, we provide advanced in-house training for all of our crew in proper techniques such as how to pull the wax off properly, how much pressure to apply, how to observe the direction of the hair growth and sectioning the waxing into smaller areas, which reduces the potential for pain, bruising and bleeding.

Q. What is the difference between a Bikini Tidy, an Extended Bikini and a Brazilian bikini wax.

A. Bikini tidy wax follows the traditional panty line. An Extended bikini wax comes in a little further and leaves a small strip of hair. A Brazilian bikini wax is everything off (front and back) and if you prefer you can leave a Landing Strip.

Q. Do I have to get naked for a bikini wax?

A. It depends. Obviously for a Brazilian wax, you will need to "strip everything off down there" as we like to say. For a tidy up or extended bikini wax, you may get naked, which allows our crew better access or if you are modest, you may wear panties. We also have disposable g-strings available if you would prefer to use them.

Q. How does your customer referral scheme work?

A. For every person you refer to us you will receive 1000 bonus points. Every time a new customer completes our registration form and enters your name in the customer referral details we will update your account. 1000 Bonus Points = $10

Q. Do you offer a client loyalty scheme?

A. Yes. Every time you visit us you will be awarded points on all treatments and products. You can then redeem the points against future appointments.

Q. Do you have parking?

A. Yes. We have 4 Landing Strip carparks directly outside the salon.

Q. How much experience do your therapists have?

A. Lots! 20 years combined to be exact.
